First Appearance Court is a mandatory legal hearing that takes place within 24 hours of a person’s arrest in Florida. During this hearing, a judge reviews the charges, ensures the arrest was lawful, and decides whether to set bail, release the defendant on their own recognizance (ROR), or keep them in custody.
